The Backyard Apiary
Ground Breaking
The site was prepared in Feb of 2020, we elected to use a concrete pad to prolong the life of our stands and equipment and to also reduce the number of pests usually found in soil under the hives.
Getting the Equipment
Needless to say, building and painting 10 hives was a new experience for us. All the hive material is cypress and came from Rossman Apiaries in Georgia.
Ready for the Bees!
Everything was setup and installed a day before the bees were set to arrive. Nothing like a little last minute hustle.
An Apiary Needs Bees
Equipment was built, Ivette did an amazing job painting the hives, and the bees moved in April of 2020!
